Commissioner Jess L. Anderson and the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) welcome you to the 2021 Utah Public Safety Summit.  This conference was designed with public safety professionals in mind and focuses on leadership, educational experiences, critical thinking opportunities and best practices.

Conference tracks include: Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Forensics, Fire/EMS, School Safety, General Public Safety, and SIAC (Cyber Security).

This presentation covers the approach to examining the "hired gun" MH expert with specific reference and demonstration from the Aurora Theater Massacre of July 20, 2012. The jury quickly rejected the insanity defense despite several mental health experts previously used and previously determined to be credible on the issues of delusion, psychosis, schizophrenia, etc.
