How can we avoid the lessons Upton Sinclair dramatized around the meat packing industry in the early 20th century with commercial use of open source? There are great organizations like OpenChain creating practices to build trust, but credibility in the software supply chain may need more. A "USDA stamp" for commercial software may still be a ways off, but Justin Rackliffe has some practices that consumers can use based on resources software suppliers should maintain and can be indicators of good and bad practices without access to all the code.
