Strong, resilient disease surveillance systems at geographic scale are foundational to detecting outbreaks early. Sierra Leone shares its experiences in scaling up and decentralizing electronic case-based disease surveillance in an integrated way, calling on lessons learned from the Ebola epidemic.

WHO's African Regional Office is implementing DHIS2 as a regional vaccine-preventable disease surveillance platform for IDSR, leveraging the large scale adoption of DHIS2 in AFRO member states to improve timely disease reporting.
