Traditional online “discussions” have always spurred little genuine conversation, which is especially detrimental for online programs where opportunities for promoting student engagement are limited.  EdPlus at Arizona State University and Yellowdig saw this problem as a major pitfall in higher ed and began a partnership in Spring 2015 to address it. The partnership has grown tenfold over the past 4 years. Based on thorough research conducted throughout the partnership, Yellowdig has made immense improvements to its product to greater engage and retain students. This presentation will focus on the history of this symbiotic partnership, where we are taking it in the future, and present results from one example of our commitment to actionable research, an efficacy report investigating Yellowdig behaviors and grades for over 20,000 students from Arizona State University.
