OAuth and OpenID Connect (OIDC) have become a baseline requirement for securing APIs, and there are a lot of deployment options to integrate OAuth/OIDC server functions with their API infrastructure, including API gateways, user authentication, and identity management services. But due to the complexity of OAuth and OIDC, it isn't easy for architects and developers to determine the best deployment pattern for characteristics of their APIs and their future expansions. This talk will introduce the basics of OAuth/OIDC, deployment architecture patterns of these technologies in the wild, and insights to build future-proof API authorization service.
