This is a fast, thorough introduction to Wikidata, a free open (CC0) database, able to be read by both people and computers, collaboratively edited by anyone at all. Wikidata provides the information to Wikipedia, WikiCommons, and other Wikimedia projects, but being free and open is being used by many other groups needing authority lists, name disambiguation, subject headings, and a hub that links widely-separated databases. Wikidata is growing fast, with 67 million items at last count, and is being watched with great interest by the GLAM sector. Get in on the ground floor.
