*Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, the facilitator has requested that registration for this pre-conference is limited to 12 participants.* Kendrick’s 2017 study of low morale in academic librarians (The Low Morale Experience of Academic Librarians: A Phenomenological Study), reveals the social, environmental, and systemic impact factors of this phenomenon. Implications for ethics, collegiality, professionalism, continuing education, and career mobility are also linked in this groundbreaking qualitative study. Simultaneously, literature on workplace incivility, toxicity, burnout, and bullying reflect a critical need for dialogue about, reflection on, and recovery from low morale outcomes suffered in library workplace environments. Through pre-event activities and on-site prompts, the Renewal Workshop offers attendees intensive opportunities for analysis, critique, and reflection on their low-morale experience(s).
