2019 UDL-IRN International Summit

This session shares findings from a study that explored the potential of a “UDL Video Club” to support teachers to deepen their UDL practice. The Video Club included two researchers and two fifth-grade teachers who met regularly to analyze footage from the teachers’ classrooms. Throughout the year, the teachers developed their understandings of UDL as they analyzed instructional moves and student thinking through a UDL lens. In this session, the researchers and teachers involved in this study co-present findings that reveal how the Video Club supported the teachers to leverage UDL in new ways, to reflect on instructional goals, and to increase cross-disciplinary collaboration. The researchers and teachers will then lead an exploration of the features of the Club that proved especially useful in supporting teacher learning. Finally, participants will engage in a Video Club “simulation” and reflect on the potential of this approach in their own schools and districts.
