He will share three of the latest troubleshooting features on K8s that are currently being discussed/developed in the community. The first is Structured Logging, which defines a standard structure for logs and standardizes references to k8s objects to make the most common logs easier to query. The second is a feature called Contextual Logging. The key idea is that the library is passed a logger instance by the caller and uses it for logging instead of accessing the global logger. The third is a function called Distributed Tracing. This is a feature to enable distributed tracing across k8s. Both logging features can improve existing log formats and facilitate log analysis, aggregation, development debugging, and troubleshooting. Distributed Tracing is a feature that makes it easier to debug requests that cross service boundaries by introducing OpenTelemetry into k8s core components. As more core components introduce Distributed Tracing, Kubernetes will become easier to monitor, manage, and troubleshoot. In this presentation, He will explain the specific log format and usage, including actual examples of tracing. This will give K8s system administrators and developers some insight into how these newest features are great and how to handle logs and traces in the future.
