Journalists Under Fire: Strategies & Resources

Attacks against journalists are at near-record highs. At least 27 dead and 55 missing this year. Another 259 in prison. More are killed covering politics and corruption than war. And with impunity widespread, murderers go free and survive to strike again.

Investigative journalists -- along with their friends and families -- are too often on the front lines of these threats. What strategies are most effective to protect ourselves and fight back? Here is a broad range of experience -- from the global work of Reporters san Frontiers to personal battles fought by gutsy journalists in Mexico, Nepal, and South Sudan.

We are pleased to introduce to GIJN members Freedom Voices, a new group that will publish and continue the work of exiled and attacked journalists around the world. Here's a look at some of their plans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umxQxJkLARQ
