From stereotypes in national creation myths like Thanksgiving to the erasure of the American genocide, Native American youth face racism from kindergarten through post-secondary education. This is especially poignant in California, where Native Peoples also face a widespread misperception that they don’t exist. California Indian and other Native youth share personal stories of successful battles to bring the real history of America into the classroom and to abolish dehumanizing Indian mascots once and for all. Hosted by Dallas Goldtooth (Diné/Dakota), co-founder of the 1491’s comedy crew.
