Sheepdog is a software defined storage system for converged infrastructure developed as OSS. Its completely symmetric architecture enables scale out, easy to manage virtualized environment without expensive storage appliances. Sheepdog has been started as a software which provides virtual disks to QEMU originally. But recent development effort is significantly improving its capability and adding new features. In this talk, the recent results of development is presented. Especially, remarkable results are:
  1. Erasure coding: New coding scheme for improving both of space efficiency and writeperformance without losing reliability is added.
  2. iSCSI interface: The standard interface of SAN is supported. The virtual disks can be used by hypervisors other than KVM and bare metal OSes.
  3. Object atorage feature: Object storage interface like AWS S3 and Openstack Swift is supported.
In addition, performance comparison with Ceph and GlusterFS is presented.
