The speakers propose a model for a Software Preservation Network and report on previous software preservation work and software collecting efforts. The model addresses several questions: What legal challenges and opportunities does a software preservation network face? How can archivists identify orphaned software? What types of metadata should describe software use requirements, and what are the parameters for the network's membership? This session also explores potential dialogues between cultural heritage repositories and the software industry.
